A Legacy of Love for Students: Dr. Louise Little's Enduring Gift to InterVarsity at the University of Delaware

Some people's faithfulness to the gospel spans decades — and Dr. Louise Little was one of those rare, remarkable people.

Louise's story with InterVarsity began the way so many do: as a college student whose life was transformed by Christ. That encounter with God's grace never left her. After earning her doctorate and joining the University of Delaware faculty as a Professor of Nutrition, she became Faculty Advisor to the InterVarsity chapter there — investing in the very kind of ministry that shaped her own faith.

Her connection to campus ministry ran deep. When Rev. Will Metzger planted Friendship Church near the UD campus, Louise was a founding member and board servant. She chaired her church's missions committee, helped fund student scholarships to the Urbana Missions Conference for years, and faithfully corresponded with missionaries across the globe. She even led a short-term prayer and missions trip to support South Asian outreach in London — well into her retirement years — with an energy that inspired everyone around her.

Galatians 6:9 captures her well: "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Louise never gave up. She was still asking for campus updates and sharing news from the mission field just weeks before her passing.

Now, her estate gift is bearing fruit in a new generation. Her generosity is helping launch two new staff positions at UD — including Jude Souazoube, who will lead the Black Student Ministry, discipling students in God's Word. Both new staff members are early in the process of building their donor networks, and Louise's gift provides a vital foundation for their ministry.

InterVarsity has served the University of Delaware since 1945. Louise Little's legacy ensures that work — and the students and faculty it reaches — will continue to flourish for years to come.
